Breaking bread: unlocking the secrets to creating delicious loaves at home

Flour up your hands and get ready to rise into the world of bread. In this three hour workshop with artisan baker and owner of “Beyond Bread,” Florin Moldovan, participants will delve into the science behind the perfect loaf, the grains that make it and some of the history behind delicious loaves. Participants will learn the techniques needed to make amazing breads at home using readily available ingredients.

Presenter Bio: Florin is an artisan baker who used to own Transilvania Peasant Bread on W. Broadway, and now owns Beyond Bread on W. 4th Avenue. He taught himself how to bake when he arrived in Canada because he didn’t “understand” the bread here. A few years back he decided to take a two-year sabbatical from his job and play baker for a while. That was seven years ago. He doesn’t know how to stop any more, and is having too much fun doing it. Florin is a strong believer in organic, sustainable and naturally leavened baking.
